Google, pandemic adaption -

As Covid-19 cases surge, many employees aren't ready or interested in returning to work. They shouldn't have to.   "Many employees are still trying to navigate a lot of uncertainty in both their personal and professional lives. They are trying to figure out what school will look like for their children. They're deciding whether they are ready to be in an office all day after spending the past 19 months working from home.  In making those decisions, companies that try to force a one-size-fits-all approach might quickly find that their employees no longer believe that it's a good fit for...

The two quickest production cars of all time, the Rimac Nevera and the Tesla Model S, were recently pitted against each other in a series of drag races, with the former coming out on top easily. The difference between the two, besides a whole lot of power and money? Six-tenths of a second.       The two EVs can be seen racing each other three times in a new video posted by DragTimes, the same YouTuber that recently filmed the Nevera as it became the fastest accelerating production car of all time. In all three heats, the American EV was no match for the...

electric vehicles -

We match our performance model to some full-on acceleration data and discover something totally unexpected. Off the line, the Rimac Nevera accelerates so quickly it wants to do a wheely, ruining traction on the front wheels. The car then pushes nearly all power to the rear wheels. We show you when and how much. Summary Please keep in mind that this is quite speculative. There were a lot of unknowns that we had to estimate. But we’d be willing to bet the trends and magnitudes we have estimated with our model are probably close. (See detailed discussion section for how we did...

According to the International Energy Agency, in 2019 international shipping was responsible for approximately 2% of “global energy-related CO2 emissions." Danish firm Maersk said Tuesday it is ordering eight large, ocean-going vessels able to run on what it called “carbon neutral methanol.” The world’s largest container shipping firm said the vessels would be built by South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries and have the capacity to carry around 16,000 containers. According to a number of reports, each ship will cost $175 million, making...

Canada, carbon capture -

Canada is pushing to provide incentives for at least two new massive carbon capture projects by 2030, a federal government document showed, with nearly a dozen oil and gas companies already pursuing rights to store carbon dioxide in Alberta’s vast underground caverns. Canada’s four existing projects, representing 15 per cent of global facilities, currently capture 4 million tonnes per year, according to the Canadian government. The hubs to collect carbon from clusters of emitters would advance Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s goal of cutting emissions by 40-45 per cent from 2005 levels by 2030. The global oil industry is betting heavily that...
