Rail freight manufacturer Wabtec Corporation has officially unveiled the newest version of what it calls “the world’s first battery-electric freight train.” The electric train, known as FLXdrive Battery Locomotive, is no longer just a prototype and has made its official debut in Pittsburgh, PA, following Wabtec’s first sale of the locomotive earlier this week.   Wabtec Corporation is a manufacturer and freight company with over 150 years of experience in the rail industry. According to a new analysis from Wedbush, Tesla (TSLA) is expected to reach 1.3 million deliveries in 2022. A project exploring the possibility of launching a green hydrogen-fuelled autonomous submarine between Scotland and Northern Ireland has been named as a winner in the UK Government’s Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition. Led by Oceanways Technologies, the modular submarines would be able to perform multiple marine missions, but the first target market will be to ship cargo with 0kg CO2 emissions within the UK and between its trade partners. Wright Electric, an American startup company, has advanced in developing its first commercially viable, zero-emissions single-aisle aircraft by beginning testing a 2MW motor for electric and hydrogen aircraft. The motor produces the equivalent of 2,700 horsepower and displays an efficiency of around 10 kilowatts per kilogram. This marks a 2x improvement over megawatt-scale motors being demonstrated in the industry, the company says. The motor is designed to be scalable from 500 kW to 4 MW for different applications. According to the company, it is the largest propulsive aerospace motor in existence – about 2x larger than other propulsive motors in testing....

Hyundai's autonomous e-Bogie concept is a crazy zero-emissions robot that could transform the way we ship overland cargo.   Perhaps the most radical hydrogen-powered concepts to come out of the Hyundai Motor Group's Hydrogen Wave forum this week are this Trailer Drone concept and the modular Fuel Cell e-Bogie concept that it sits upon.
