In particular, thawing permafrost threatens to release biological, chemical and radioactive materials that have been sequestered for tens to hundreds of thousands of years. Contemporary Amperex Technology Co Ltd. has agreed to acquire Millennial Lithium Corp. in an all-stock cash deal valued at around C$377 million ($297 million) as the the world’s largest maker of electric-vehicle batteries continues to pursue a strong supply of a key battery-making mineral. Ningde, Fujian-based CATL will pay C$3.85 per common share of Millennial, payable in cash, according to a statement Tuesday. German renewable energy company Baywa r.e., the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE, and partners have built a 258 kW agrivoltaic system for apples in the north of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate to test whether such systems can provide plant protection against harmful environmental influences. The five-year research project is financed by the State Ministry of Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, and Mobility of the Land of Rhineland-Palatinate and the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture.
