Tesla (TSLA) has sold back Maxwell Technology’s ultracapacitor business and brand after acquiring it just over two years ago.   AD   Back in 2019, Tesla announced the acquisition of Maxwell Technology, a San Diego-based ultracapacitor and battery company, for over $200 million. While the company was mostly known for its ultracapacitor business, it had just developed a dry electrode technology for battery cells, and Tesla revealed that it is what the automaker was really after. MIT physicists have observed signs of a rare type of superconductivity in a material called magic-angle twisted trilayer graphene. In a study appearing in Nature, the researchers report that the material exhibits superconductivity at surprisingly high magnetic fields of up to 10 Tesla, which is three times higher than what the material is predicted to endure if it were a conventional superconductor. The results strongly imply that magic-angle trilayer graphene, which was initially discovered by the same group, is a very rare type of superconductor, known as a "spin-triplet," that is impervious to high magnetic fields. This new stick of RAM can cope with 'the most extreme compute-hungry, high-bandwidth workloads.' While consumers today typically use computers with 8GB or 16GB of DDR4 RAM inside, Samsung is pushing ahead with the next generation of memory modules. Its latest stick of RAM is a 512GB DDR5 module running at 7,200Mbps. The new module will be used in servers performing "the most extreme compute-hungry, high-bandwidth workloads." That means supercomputers, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. It was made possible thanks to advanced HKMG technology, which Samsung adopted back in 2018 for its GDDR6 memory.
