WHY CANADA IS A LEADER IN AMMONIA, A FUEL OF THE FUTURE
The world is undergoing an unprecedented energy transition and Canada is uniquely positioned to supply clean energy for the globe. Ammonia—a stable, easy to transport carbon-free fuel, with applications as a medium to carry hydrogen—is emerging as a fuel of the future. Canada is already a major ammonia producer thanks to its well-established hydrogen production capabilities and available infrastructure in the country. With the added benefits of carbon capture technologies and the country’s abundant renewable energy resources, Canada is the ideal location for investment in ammonia fuel projects. WHY IS AMMONIA A FUEL OF THE FUTURE? Ammonia (NH3) is a...
Joby shares detailed timelines for eVTOL certification and commercialization
he eVTOL air taxi developer Joby Aviation provided more transparency into its operations, production, and certification timelines in material presented at the company’s Analyst Day on June 3. The Santa Cruz, California-based company revealed that it is starting the process of applying for a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 135 air carrier certificate, which it expects to obtain in mid-2022. That will allow Joby to operate its own aircraft for urban air mobility missions, which the company believes will maximize its economic returns while providing it with end-to-end control over the customer experience. Achieving a Part 135 certificate will be key to...
Inching Towards Abundant Water: New Progress in Desalination Tech
Jun 18, 2019 In early 2018, Cape Town, South Africa came dangerously close to being the world’s first major city to run out of water. People lined up for blocks to collect spring water. Stores sold out of receptacles like buckets and bowls. Bottled water was rationed in tourist-heavy parts of the city. April 12 was designated “Day Zero”—the day the water was expected to dry up. City officials prepared for riots, keeping army and police ready to be deployed to water collection sources. Rainfall in the region had been low for three years straight, prompting a drought. Thanks to...
