This Novel Membrane Desalinates Water With 99.99% Efficiency
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), roughly 785 million people worldwide lack a clean source of drinkable water. Desalination could be the key to meet the world’s drinking water needs. This year, we have seen a few different ways to desalinate water, including a desalination device that also harvests lithium & H2 from seawater affordably and a portable lamp that converts half a liter of saltwater into 45 days of light. Korean engineers have developed a nanofiber membrane that turns seawater into drinkable water by a membrane distillation process. In addition, the membrane can operate efficiently for long periods. In this process, the...

Tesla (TSLA) leads 95% increase in electric car sales in the US
According to new registration data, Tesla (TSLA) is leading a 95% increase in electric car sales in the US. However, the automaker’s market shares are sliding, but that’s something that was expected. AD As we previously reported, Tesla’s market share of the electric vehicle market in the US is quite ridiculous. For the entire year of 2020, Tesla vehicles accounted for 79% of new electric vehicles registered in the US. During that period, the automaker was leading an 11% increase in electric vehicle sales in the market. It didn’t sound like much, but the results were impressive considering that...
Acrylic smart device harvests daylight to light up underground spaces
In Singapore, authorities are looking at the feasibility of digging deeper underground to create new space for infrastructure, storage, and utilities. Demand for round-the-clock underground lighting is therefore expected to rise in the future. Now, engineers from Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University (NTU) have designed a ‘smart’ device to harvest daylight and relay it to underground spaces, reducing the need to draw on traditional energy sources for lighting. The NTU team drew inspiration from the magnifying glass, which can be used to focus sunlight on one point. The smart device consists of an off-the-shelf acrylic ball, a single plastic optical fiber...
Elon Musk Just Bought a Ticket to Fly With Virgin Galactic to the Edge of Space
The gates for space tourism have just opened, and people are already crowding to go on a trip to the edge of space. While Jeff Bezos is getting ready to go on its first commercial flight, one customer has already booked his own ticket to fly with Virgin Galactic. And he's no regular customer but SpaceX's founder himself – Elon Musk. On Sunday, before Virgin Galactic's first passenger flight, Elon Musk visited Richard Branson Virgin Galactic has its first passenger flight, with Richard Branson as astronaut 001 on Virgin Galactic has its first passenger flight, with Richard Branson...
