8 Struggles of Being a Highly Intelligent Person
Intelligent people are gifted at analyzing concepts and building upon them to form a better understanding of the world and those around them, how everything is connected, and why things are the way they are. A Highly Intelligent Person often has remarkably high IQs, academic achievements, and go on to become successful leaders and trailblazers in their fields. However, they are faced with certain problems and challenges that only they can relate to. Having said that, here are 8 struggles only highly intelligent people will understand.
Rethinking AI benchmarks: A new paper challenges the status quo of evaluating artificial intelligence
In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) has made remarkable progress in performing complex tasks that were once considered the domain of human intelligence. From passing the bar exam and acing the SAT to mastering language proficiency and diagnosing medical images, AI systems such as GPT-4 and PaLM 2 have surpassed human performance on various benchmarks. Benchmarks are essentially standardized tests that measure the performance of AI systems on specific tasks and goals. They’re widely used by researchers and developers to compare and improve different models and algorithms; however, a new paper published in Science challenges the validity and usefulness of many existing benchmarks for evaluating AI systems. The...

Understanding High IQ and the G-Factor - Dr. Jordan Peterson Lecture
Working memory capacity is a strong predictor of IQ and is highly correlated with cognitive abilities, with higher IQ being a powerful predictor of long-term life success Questions to inspire discussion What is working memory capacity and how is it related to IQ? —Working memory capacity refers to the ability to hold and manipulate information in the mind for a short period of time. It is strongly correlated with IQ, with higher working memory capacity being associated with higher IQ scores. How does working memory capacity impact cognitive abilities? —Working memory capacity is highly correlated with cognitive abilities, such...
The Neuroscience of Intelligence: Dr. Richard Haier
There is almost nothing more important to understand about people than intelligence. It can be measured more accurately than anything else in the social sciences. It differs tremendously and importantly between individuals. It is the single most important determinant of life success. It's very existence, however, remains subject to substantive debate, most of it highly politicized. Dr. Richard Haier has recently written a major book on the topic, The Neuroscience of Intelligence (http://amzn.to/2em55A9), summarized in the following manner:"This book introduces new and provocative neuroscience research that advances our understanding of intelligence and the brain. Compelling evidence shows that genetics plays...
