The Crazy Brain Benefits of Vigorous Exercise | Dr. Rhonda Patrick
Increased lactate from vigorous exercise has a whole host of brain health benefits.
This video discusses:
• How brain utilization of lactate as an energy source boosts glutathione, a powerful antioxidant
• How lactate generated from high-intensity exercise increases BDNF, the "youth elixir" for the brain
• Lactate's effect on vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) at the blood-brain barrier (and how this increases new blood vessel formation)

The INSANE Mitochondria, Glucose, & Heart Benefits of Vigorous Exercise | Dr. Rhonda Patrick
Vigorous exercise (defined as more than 80% max heart rate) has unique longevity & metabolic benefits. It's definitely something that should be prioritized. This clip discusses:
• How 2 years of vigorous exercise in 50-year-olds was able to reduce heart aging by 20 years
• How lactate generated from high-intensity exercise increases GLUT-4 activity, improving glucose disposal and insulin sensitivity
• Why vigorous exercise is one of the best ways to stimulate mitochondrial biogenesis

New Study Questions LDL Risk - An interview with Dave Feldman
Do we all have to worry that LDL causes heart disease, or could certain people, like low-carb "lean mass hyper responders" have less concern about LDL and heart risk? A new study from Dave Feldman and Dr. Matt Budoff suggests markedly elevated LDL in the setting of metabolic health and ketosis may not contribute to cardiac plaque and heart disease. While these data are not conclusive, they are highly suggestive and set the stage for future studies in this critically important area. Will this line of research eventually change everything we know about LDL? That's to be determined, but at least we're asking the question.

Ketosis and Depression: An inspiring personal story from Stanford's Healthcare Innovation Lab.
Ben Rolnik lived with depression, thinking often about suicide, and even when he was doing well, he never knew if his day would get upended by depressive symptoms. That all changed when he found ketogenic therapy, and Ben has now put his depression symptoms into remission. Ben shares his dramatic story but also discusses his unique position as the Director of Stanford's Healthcare Innovation Lab and how he hopes studies will soon identify those who may benefit most from ketogenic therapy. But in the meantime, he wonders why everyone wouldn't try this for their depression.
