Should EVERY Pronoun Be Accommodated?
In San Juan, Puerto Rico, Peter Boghossian asked three men to consider the claim, “Preferred pronouns should always be respected.” The participants discussed grammar rules, language clarity, compelled speech, and the difference between belief and respect. Potential limits to pronoun accommodation were considered, including the use of genderless “neopronouns.” One man suggested extracting words for new pronouns from Native American languages (with permission, of course, to avoid appropriation).
