Microsoft plans to bring the mixed-reality world of Microsoft Mesh to Teams, starting with a preview featuring customized avatars in 2022. Meta (the company formerly known as Facebook) is not the only one trying to carve out a position for itself as a metaverse-savvy company. Microsoft is readying a $10 per user per month add-on to Teams called Teams Premium that will add a number of AI, security and personalization capabilities to the platform next year.   Microsoft plans to introduce in December 2022 in preview a new "Teams Premium" add-on with more personalization, AI functionality and security features built-in. Microsoft's updated set of Azure mixed-reality services will work with virtual reality, and later, holoportation, scenarios across devices. March 2, 2021 Microsoft is filling out its set of mixed reality tools with a real-time collaboration platform called Microsoft Mesh. In spite of having its own AR device in market, Microsoft plans to bring a number of its own software and services to Meta's Meta Quest devices. Meta debuted its Meta Quest VR devices on October 12. While Meta officials stressed that the Quest Pro is aimed at "prosumers," these devices also are likely to end up on the potential shopping list of business customers due to their price tag. So -- at least in some ways -- it makes sense that Microsoft was standing at the ready with plans to bring its own business software and services (plus some gaming integrations)...
